Survive the zombie pandemic at the library

A zombie outbreak has hit the Shawnee Public Library, and it’s up to local teens to come in and save the day.

With the help of representatives from Science Museum Oklahoma, they’ll try to “Survive the Zombie Pandemic” at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 at the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.

Organize and preserve family recipes with Shawnee workshop

The Shawnee Public Library is giving local residents a lesson in “Cooking Up Your Family History,” at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, in Community Rooms A and B of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.

Participants will get ideas for preserving family recipes and memories as they create a keepsake family cookbook. It’s a good addition to genealogy research within a family or as a standalone item.

Group bringing improv and fun to the library for teens

Educating through laughs and smiles, acting and improvisation, the name OKC Improv says it all about this troupe of local thespians.

The group seeks to raise awareness and understanding of improvisation, or improv, as an art form through the many venues in which its performances take place. And this summer, that includes a stop at the Shawnee Public Library at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, as part of the group’s tour of the Pioneer Library System.

Teen Book Club

Read any good books this summer?  Join teens “rock the talk” book club.  Recently teens enjoyed pizza while sharing information about books they’ve been reading.  Space is limited, so registration is encouraged.
