Fancy Nancy Family Story Time coming to Purcell

This month’s Family Story Time at the Purcell Public Library takes on the theme of a favorite children’s book series. It will be Fancy Nancy night at the library, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 22.

Families are invited to come to the library together for stories, crafts, music, activities and a light but elegant dinner, all based on the theme of the popular children’s book series by Jane O’Connor.

Purcell bringing "True Grit" to chamber’s monthly luncheon

The Purcell Public Library welcomes the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce for its monthly members luncheon, at noon Friday, April 18, in the Meeting Room of the library, 919 N. Ninth St.

The library shares with the Chamber this year’s PLS Big Read theme, based on the Charles Portis novel “True Grit.” Chamber members and guests are invited to attend this western theme lunch and are encouraged to show their True Grit Western spirit by wearing their jeans and boots.

The event also caps the library’s celebration of National Library Week.

Purcell presents Makers Space for children

Join the Purcell Public Library for an afternoon of arts and crafts at its Makers Space programs, at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesdays at the library, 919 N. Ninth St.

The program takes place each Wednesday in April, on April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Purcell welcomes youngsters to Preschool Story Time on Fridays

The Purcell Public Library invites children ages 5 and under and their caregivers to a special weekly story time just for them.

Preschool Story Times will take place at 10:30 a.m. each Friday in March and April. Story Time features books, games, dances, songs, craft time and more targeted to children ages 1 to 5.

Purcell to host Afterschool Tutoring on Tuesdays

PencilsThe Purcell Public Library will host an Afterschool Tutoring session weekly beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesdays, starting Sept. 10.

Students can bring their homework and books and get help from tutors in areas they may have concerns about.

Registration is not required to take part.
